Shock and Style

Barry and I are on our 3rd day of babysitting for Benjamin (2) and Henry (10 1/2 months), with help from Auntie Janie, too!

This morning, Benjamin’s voice woke us up at 5:30. That would be AM. The hushed whisper, “Gramma. Gramma,” alerted me to dawn as Benjamin touched my face.

“Hi, Honey,” I whispered. “Close your eyes,” I begged suggested. Ben was in bed with us and Henry was sleeping a few feet away in a porta-crib.

“Gramma. Gramma,” Ben continued, “Dora. Blues Clues. Diego. Nick.” Ben’s older brother have turned him onto NickJr. and he thinks these characters live inside my computer.

Then Barry made me realize why I love him so much (well, this and his legs). He took Ben downstairs in search of all his favorite characters. (I must say here that I was up at 3:30 Friday morning with Ben… so pleases don’t judge me if I needed a bit more sleep!)

At 7:30, I could hear Henry’s little voice. All rested and energized, I picked him up and headed downstairs. Benjamin was busy with Legos and Sponge Bob. Barry was on the couch, under a blanket. All was well with the world.

Barry got up and headed to the kitchen to make Ben’s favorite, french toast. Ben followed him, staring at Barry’s attire… a pair of black boxer shorts with a red waistband. Now, I know for certain that Benjamin has seen a sight like this before (I mean, he has a Daddy and 3 brothers!), but I guess he hasn’t seen Pop-up like this before.

He stared. He assessed. He reacted.

He went into the hall closet and came back to the kitchen with just the right accessory. Black sneakers.

Mission accomplished.

I snapped a photograph… but promised Barry I wouldn’t post too much!

We were ready for breakfast and our day.

  • That’s too cute Sharon!!! Sounds like you all are having an great time though with the grandbabies. It’s so great Audrey has you. I still haven’t left my girls overnight yet, and they are 6 and 4.

  • That man is stylin! I can see why you love him so much. What a good sport. I’m glad you are still having fun. How much longer are they there for?
