There’s just something about a little back yard pool…

Of all the world’s oceans and lakes and rivers and steams -

Of all the man-made wave pools and splash parks and private clubs -

There’s just something so sweet and simple and innocent and enduring about a little back yard pool…

(This is Audrey and Barry – in our back yard in Barrington, RI – July 1979… and I’m thinking, “What a hunk of man my husband was is!”)

Or, in this case, a pot of water!

  • We had one, too, in our little city back yard in Central Falls!

…and our boys had one like Audrey and Jane’s.

…no one to make use of a pot, though, at least not yet!

  • These pictures bring back memories oh too well. How sweet you are in that little pool with your brother. Look at the women in their dresses. LOL..I can remember as a child thinking we were so COOL with a little blow up pool on the block. Those were the good ole’ days. Henry has a great idea with the pot! He’s a cutie pie.

  • You are absolutely right. Great pictures.

  • Barry was definitely hunky in that photo! I agree about backyard pools… there is just something about them. We are anxiously awaiting breaking ours out in a few weeks!
