Where to Shop for Maternity Coats

Where to shop? It’s a question I’m asked frequently. As you can tell – lately I have been adding some new components to my 365 Days of Fashion Advice for Moms. What to wear with… How to… and Where to shop… I think these different areas help organize different fashion needs and wants for women. And I certainly don’t want to leave out my pregnant friends!
It’s about that time. It’s getting colder. Your belly bump is getting bigger. And you need a coat. I remember I tried my hardest to fit into my “pre-pregnancy” winter coat when I was pregnant with Benjamin… but it just wouldn’t button. There are some fabulous looking winter coats out there right now, and this is the best time to shop for them – when every size and color is fully stocked. I (reluctantly) bought a white winter coat when I was pregnant with Benjamin. It was the only color available… and I just knew, I just knew it was going to be dirty – and fast. So I’m a big proponent of buying when styles/colors/sizes are in stock and ready to go!
So where to shop for maternity coats? Easy. Destination Maternity.
After devouring the many gorgeous styles, these are my (5) favorite maternity picks for winter coats (if I were pregnant, which I’m not – I don’t want any rumors starting…):

Zip Front Nylon Blend Maternity Coat

Button Front Wool Maternity Coat

Toggle Closure Wool Maternity Coat

Zipper Pocket Boucle Maternity Jacket

Fleece Long Sleeve Maternity Jacket

With my first baby (due March) I just could NOT find any maternity coats online (lived in a small town so there was no shopping other than online), and I ended up wearing my husbands fleece all winter stretched out over my belly. My second was due in Sept, so I didn’t need a coat, but my third was due Jan so I was once again faced with the coat dilemma. And because I was planning to stop having kids at that point, i didn’t want to spend as much money as I would have on my first pregnancy when it would get more use. I lucked out and found a really great puffer coat from Old Navy for $35. it fit great, and wasn’t too bulky so I still looked slim and pregnant rather than like a giant marshmallow. I love the choices you have included here – if I manage to convince my husband to keep having kids I think I’ll get the top one.
WHen I was pregnant, I also didn’t have any luck finding a coat I liked. I actually took my wool coat (similar to #2 pic) to a tailor and had the buttons moved out to accomodate the ever-growing belly. It was perfect..they charged me $12 and afterards I took it back and them move them back for another $12.
