Barnes & Noble’s NOOK and GIVEAWAY!
Barnes & Noble’s NOOK is amazing. For someone like me, an avid reader, it’s actually like a dream come true. I got to experience the beauty and awe of the NOOK a few days ago while taking the train to NYC. I devour Danielle Steel (yes, Danielle Steel… she’s my romance goddess) books like Cookie Monster devours cookies. As soon as I have one in my hand, it’s read-done-kaput in about 2 hours.
If you’re a Danielle Steel girl, you know that Big Girl just came out. Recently at the airport, I bought Big Girl, along with 2 other paperback Danielle Steel books. I’m not kidding, my pocketbook weighed a ton. I knew I needed reading materials for my 6 hour plane ride, so I really didn’t have a choice.
Enter my Nook.
I took it with me on the train – easy-peasy. Popped it right into my pocketbook. Lightweight. I had already decided what I wanted to read, had everything set. And seriously – navigating Nook is simple, fast and SO easy. If you can check email, you can navigate nook. The best past is that there are over 1 million titles that you can shop for… you literally have your own virtual library. You get your desired books in seconds. You can read clearly. I felt all “Jetson” cool on the train with my Nook.

I love the Kate Spade designer Nook cover the best. It reminds me of the days I visited the library with my brother and mom and we could each pick a book. Ahh…I can smell the old pages, plus the nostalgia!

My “oh my this feels sexy” side wants the beautiful black leather Kate Spade one with the understated ‘read a book’ on the cover… and then my wallet coughs and gags that I would consider spending almost as much on the cover as I did on the Nook (I must confess though, that I do have one of her business card holders in my purse – but it was a gift). The Kate Spade canvas bella library cover is cute – but I’m not really a ‘cute’ kind of gal. I currently have a drop in cover for my reader, so when I want to read I then have to hold onto that, too – don’t like it, especially when I’m at the school sitting on the ever-uncomfortable bleachers waiting for the game to start. My pick which appeals to the wallet, my not-so-cute but I-want-to-find-it-in-my-purse, and the additional functionality of a front pocket for just a couple notes (the next books I want to get perhaps?) and my business card so that if I should ever lose it maybe some kind person might actually think of returning it – Jonathan Adler’s Punctuation cover! Sophisticated, sort of sexy, clever, and easy enough on my wallet that I can still grab a mocha and a few more books to load and enjoy.

Oh too many awesome choices. If I won the nook and kept it for myself I would definitely go with the Kate Spade New York in the bright pink or the Johnathan Adler punctuation.
If I were a truly good mommy I would give the Nook to either of my two oldest. They are awesome readers. The oldest has almost completed the Harry Potter series and is moving into “Twilight,” ugh. The boy who is younger, reads almost twice as much as his older sister. He was put into a special reading class in 1st grade. We feared the worst. Today he is also completing the Harry Potter series and the Goose Bump series. OK I am done busting buttons over the kids back to the contest.
If the kids were to receive the nook from dear ol mom I would have to go with one of the Jack Spade covers. They have a clean look and design as well as being a little less gender specific.
