Talking with Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott
Yesterday I got the chance to chat with Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott. I was a HUGE 90210 fan in the day. Everything on Thursday night STOPPED in my house for 90210. There was no such thing as DVR or Tivo (yes, you could “tape” it, but what a pain!). I would get all my homework done just to be ready to watch 90201 at 8PM (of course, followed by Party of Five or Melrose Place). “Donna” was one of my favorite characters on the show… so in getting the chance to chat with her, I have to say, I was VERY excited! And also worried I would slip and call her “Donna.” (I didn’t.)
They recently teamed up with Cottonelle in their “HOW DOES AMERICA ROLL?” campaign. The “Great Debate” in households… do you roll over or under? (I roll over, my husband rolls under.)
Tori is a rolling over kind of girl. “Over is just more chic,” says Tori. “Dean and I agreed to hang our toilet paper at home whichever way America rolls!”
Dean is an under kind of guy. “Under just says Zen to me. When it rolls over, the toilet paper seems so aggressive. Calmly rolled under, it’s symmetrical and orderly and there when I need it.”
Well… America did vote. Tori and Dean agreed to “hang their roll” whichever way America voted…. (drum roll please!) they voted OVER! Cottonelle has a new roll their unveiling now, too… one that was built to roll over. It’s softer and stronger. And let me just say… it was kind of surreal chatting TP with Tori and Dean.
Like Tori said, “We teamed up with Cottonelle because we let everything else out there, so we thought it would be fun to do this. Why not let the world know? Because it’s true… couples do have this debate.”
I also got the chance to chat about what I love best… FASHION!
Tori is such a fashionable mom. She has her own children’s clothing line – Little Maven – which is chic, hip, trendy and oh-so-Hollywood-cool. I’ve always admired her from afar because she’s one of those celebrity mom’s that actually is with her children. Not to mention, they always look perfect!
I asked Tori and Dean – What’s your go-to comfy attire when you’re at home. When nobody’s around… what do you love to sink into?
I loved their answers because you could tell they were being 100% honest…
Tori, “I’m always in sweats, tees and my UGGs. I love my UGGs!”
Dean,“My Juicy sweats.”
One thing I asked Tori – How do you stay fashionably cool as a Mom?
Tori, “I love to shop. Now it’s more for my kids, not for me. But I do think it’s possible to stay fashionable. I love that flats have become chic. I was a heel girl, but I can’t wear heels anymore. I love flats because they’re chic, cool and affordable. I also love skinny jeans and tanks. And one thing that’s so easy to wear and look fashionable in are scarves!”
(I loved hearing that Tori is scarf lover, too!)
In regards to Tori’s children’s line – What inspired you to create Little Maven?
Tori, “My children, I wanted to create a line that was comfortable, stylish, affordable and had high-quality clothing. And I love colors!”
I chatted with them for a good 10 minutes… I didn’t feel rushed to get off with them, and they just seemed like very down-to-earth people. I had asked them a few more questions on parenthood… and they just gushed about their kids. It was wonderful to hear… even if these kids are with Dean McDermott and not David Silver.
*2 things I thought were cute:
1. Dean kept calling Tori, “T.”
2. They had to change our call time due to naptime at their household. I liked that… and I “got” that.
