When I was a kid, I used to get so excited for Friday nights because it was T.G.I.F. on TV. Do you remember those nights? 2 hours of straight TV shows just for kids. Oddly enough… those were the times before Twitter, Facebook, iPhones and TiVo… it’s weird thinking those things didn’t exist back then. But in a way, it was a good thing. There was more time and room for FAMILY NIGHTS. I constantly try to fit in family nights within my household. My parents did such an amazing job with our family when I was a kid, and it’s crazy that I even find it a struggle sometimes to get all of us together… enjoying the same thing. The importance of spending time together is priceless. It’s something, like I’m doing now, I want my sons to look back at 20 years from now and say, “I want to do it the same way my parents did it,” when the they have families of their own. It’s just finding those special ways to do it.
Well… Walmart and P&G are helping to further build up family night in your household. Especially with the way the economy is right now, it’s not easy for families to head out to dinner or go to the movies or go bowling, etc. So when you can find something to do together, at home… that’s FUN for the whole family (and free), it’s a BIG BONUS. On Friday night… April 16th at 8PM (EST) on NBC, Walmart and P&G have teamed up to bring back family night with the release of the movie, Secrets of the Mountain. I had the distinct pleasure of getting a sneak peek of this movie 5 weeks ago in NYC, and I absolutely loved it!
This is my personal opinion of the movie… as a mom of 4 boys (5 and under). I loved that the movie is a family adventure… I know my oldest son William (after seeing the movie) will be begging me to go on some family adventure after it. I love that it’s something the 4 of them could watch with me and my husband, it’s truly a family-sitting-together movie. And most of all – I love that adults can become just as invested and moved by the movie as children. This is such an amazing piece… and if you’re looking for something to do on Friday night, definitely TUNE in. They’ve even worked it so the commercials tie into the movie, too. Which is FABULOUS for kids!
And… thought this was cool – I’m in this week’s Walmart Circular dishing about the movie with 3 of my friends: Christine, Lori and Renee:

Aud – We did not get one in our CIRCULAR!
I missed this movie, but I hear that Walmart has the DVD and Soundtrack for sale for $12. I’m going to check it out.
