I’ve been seeing a lot of jean shorts with fringe this summer on celebs…
Jennifer Aniston
Kourtney Kardashian
It’s a hot trend right now… and what I love most about this “look” is that you can take this “sexier” option for shorts and really do a great job at making it look classic and chic. After all, we’re not looking to go all Daisy Duke. As I started to look for a pair to buy, I thought to myself… why am I buying when I can make these? So that’s just what I did… and I love them!

I just did this too! I took my favorite pair of jeans from last winter and cut them into longish fringed shorts. If I don’t feel like looking at the fringe, I just cuff them.

PS – Having kids means that my favorite pair of jeans from last winter already had paint stains and dirt below the knee anyways.
Very cute shorts! Don’t just throw away the bottoms, though. Open one seam on each and sew them together to make a skirt. Make the cut side the bottom so you can get the cute fringe look, and then fold over the already hemmed side to make a quick casing for elastic if you’re not great at sewing. If you have a few sewing skills, you could easily install a zipper and a cute accent button, instead.
