It's not terribly environmentally friendly or good for your lawn to run the hose for hours, though, so my husband loaned the kids his utility pump, and although the pictures in the blog (here: http://munkinarts.com/blog/2010/06/29/welcome-to-the-water-park/)show a little round pool at the bottom, we've since replaced it with a larger, inflatable rectangular pool. Not only do we use a limited amount of water now, but the kids also enjoy it more because the water is no longer ice cold! My oldest came up with this idea at our house earlier this summer.
