52 Weeks of Giving: Week 2

Each week throughout 2011 I will share how I am giving back somehow, whether it’s by offering my resources, my time, my talents or my support. Giving back doesn’t have to be on a grand scale. And doesn’t have to be about money. Oftentimes charities, organizations, causes and foundations need support beyond donations. And that’s [...]

I can hardly believe that our beautiful granddaughter is 10. 10 years old. 10 years ago today, the most lovely little angel came bouncing into our lives… and on this day 10 years ago, I became Grandma and Barry became Grandpa for the very first time. There’s something mystical about being a grandparent… something so [...]

As soon as my sister-in-law had her baby on December 21st, I became a walking google.com for her on everything motherhood and parenting. I have to admit, I love it. It’s been awhile since a newborn has been in this house, so it’s been exciting for me to hear about my new little nephew and [...]
Building a Snow Fort
It’s kind of dark… but you get the drift (no pun intended). The boys had a blast plummeting each other with snowballs and creating snow forts. I just personally love when I fall back a bit into the snow fort, nobody budges.

LEGO Intervention My sons and I are in serious need of a LEGO intervention. Alexander and Benjamin LOVE LEGOs, especially the Indiana Jones and Star Wars sets and I’m happy to accommodate. I enjoy seeing the completed set, and also the surrounding chaos that accompanies the build. Step one is two to four boys fighting [...]
Looking for Pure Products? Look to Puristics.
I’m very excited to be working with Puristics over the next 6 months with their Baby Care creams and lotions. My sons have always had dry skin. I’m not surprised… they get that from me. For the last 6 years, ever since William was a little baby, I have make it my mom-mission, to find [...]

“To read a poem in January is as lovely as to go for a walk in June.“ – Jean-Paul Satre. POETRY is the theme for January’s Teachable Moments in my 365 Days of Literacy for Kids. Reading a poem to a child is like singing a little song. It’s talking to the universe. It’s taking [...]

I love finding uses for basic beauty items. When in a jam last week (when Lindsay Maines came to visit me, I left my makeup in her rental car) I had no sharpener for my lip pencil. So I improvised and realized… “Man, this works!” *2 of my guys were just as riveted…

One way to express how you feel about something is to write about it or tell about it. One way to understand something you’ve never experienced it to read about it. Poetry gives us a way to experience another person’s feelings and another person’s culture through words that make us feel something. Take your children [...]
This girl knows organization… !

Organization is an absolute necessity in my life. It always has been. I think I inherited this characteristic from both my Mom & Dad. My Mom followed my Navy Dad with our family from coast-to-coast for most of my childhood… and she refused to lose things. Each of us 3 kids had our own drawers, [...]
