According to a survey by Fiber One Bars, the “Official Snack” of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, sixty-five percent (65%) of consumers say they regret not stashing a snack in their bags when hunger pangs hit and they don’t have access to food. Furthermore, if healthy snacks aren’t readily available, fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans would most likely eat chips or crackers, or a candy bar (36%) to fight off hunger pangs. To help consumers avoid regrettable decisions and encourage “great taste,” Fiber One is partnering with Celebrity Style Expert, Bobbie Thomas, to launch the Fiber One Great Taste Giveaway and encourage smart snacking on-the-go.
“From fashion week to work events, I seem to always be on-the-run and need a delicious treat to keep me going,” said Thomas. “Being prepared is stylish and Fiber One Bars are the perfect accessory to stash in your handbag for unexpected moments when hunger pangs hit. I have always been a huge Bobbi Thomas fan, I think she’s fabulous… so I was very excited when she let me ask her some questions regarding Fall style for the moms!
1) What trends did you see that would be wearable for moms?
Color! This is one of the most colorful falls we’ve seen, and ‘spicy hues’ like pumpkin, saffron, cinnamon, paprika, and eggplant are everywhere. Black and gray have dominated for some time, but warmer tones are flattering for a wide variety of skin & hair shades, and look fresh when combined in unexpected ways. Add an an orange-red scarf to something caramel brown, or accent cranberry or eggplant with a mustard yellow bag, shoe, or cardigan.
2) Color seems to be such a great way to rock trends – what are the “hot” colors for Spring 2012?
There were so many exciting color palettes on the runway, from bold brights to soft pastels- there was definitely something for everyone! But personally, I found myself swooning over the ‘sherbet shades’ at Jason Wu, BCBG Max Azria and Nanette Lepore. Citrus-y green, neon yellow, bright pinks and corals feel fresh, especially when paired with lighter basics (white, camel, pale gray) with accents of black.
3) What do you feel every mom is going to need in her closet this Spring?
A soft breezy dress that can be worn with flip flops and a fresh face or glammed up with wedges and some lipstick. But ultimately I think it really depends on your lifestyle. The one common thread I see amongst all moms is a need for an efficient wardrobe. Rather than shopping every weekend, I recommend shopping your own closet. Schedule some time for a fitting & cleaning; donate things that aren’t being worn; re-organize so that you have easy access to all items and try out combinations you normally wouldn’t put together. You might be surprised at how chic a basic blazer can look with jeans or how that old sweater is suddenly back in style.
4) What’s your personal favorite trend?
I’m a huge fashion chameleon so I don’t think I could ever pick one! I’ll channel the ladylike look of “Mad Men” for work, and then change into fuzzy “Chewbacca” boots with leggings for dinner and a movie that night. I really believe that style is the way we speak to the world without words, so I love to constantly reinvent myself and say something new each day.
