Day 311 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids:
November is NATIONAL POMEGRANATE MONTH.
National Pomegranate Month celebrates the… yes, pomegranate.
A pomegranate is a reddish-colored, seed-laden and vitamin rich fruit that’s prized for its health benefits . Some people consider the pomegranate a super fruit… and some myths tell us that the pomegranate brings great fertility and even immortality. In many cultures and religions, the pomegranate is a sacred food symbolizing healing and abundance…
One interesting pomegranate story to share with your kids and grandkids involves the number of seeds in one pomegranate. Hebrew tradition tells us that there are 613 seeds in each pomegranate, representing the 613 commandments of the Torah. Why not conduct your own pomegranate-seed counting experiment during National Pomegranate Month?
