Accessory Alert: OBSESSED with Mckenzie Liautaud

While I was shooting my P&G Household at Robert Verdi’s Luxe Lab a couple of weeks ago, I happened to see these gorgeous pieces of jewelry displayed along one of the walls. They captured my attention as soon as I locked eyes of them.

Colorful.
Bold.
Statement pieces.

It was kismet that just an hour later, Robert introduced me to Mckenzie Liautaud… the designer of these beautiful creations.

His Afri-Glam Necklaces blew me away with their vibrance, energy and passion… these 3 spoke to me. I’m such a lover of the statement necklace and (literally) wearing nothing else on the accessory front. These pieces dazzled me. I could easily wear with my relaxed jeans and white tee, as well as my little black dress. There’s not many pieces I feel like I can say that about… but these, I can.

The Rose Gold Plated Ethiopian Cross Divinity Necklaces are exquisite. Absolutely exquisite. Powerful. Meaningful. Stunning.

I’m obsessed with his 3 point crystal power necklaces. I love the power and the beauty of crystals. I always charge my crystals in the power of the moonlight, and I just love the thought of wearing one as an accessory. There’s such power and beauty and strength in that. They are just extraordinary…

I’ve just always been in awe of someone who can create beauty. It’s such a gift and such a talent… so for me, it was a dream to chat with Mckenzie about his pieces.

I had the opportunity to interview Mckenzie… excited to share with you his words, vision and talent:

What made you want to design such stunning and beautiful pieces?

What really excites me is disparate ideas coming together and creating something new and unusual . The pieces in this collection capture the essence of glamour , rawness of primitive design and the edginess of street style — a combination that’s unexpected.

When you see one of your pieces completed, what does it feel like? Or when you see someone wearing one of your pieces?

As a designer that still hand makes every piece I feel like a parent when their child makes them proud. I beam with joy at the fact that someone else is walking around with a piece of my passion and infused it with their own personal style.

Your pieces are so versatile. You could wear them with jeans and a tee or a beautiful dress… did you design them that way?

Yes, I think accessories should function to make getting dressed easier and the best accessories are the ones that make an ordinary Little black dress extraordinary. I also love how my Afri-glam necklaces can take your favorite t-shirt & jeans and transform them street wear to runway style.

You MUST check out more of Mckenzie’s pieces, they are absolutely stunning.
