Go Red for Women

Go Red for Women – WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

February is American Heart Month. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States; one in every three deaths is from heart disease and stroke, equal to 2,200 deaths per day. Stop and think about that for a second. It is staggering when you breath it in for a moment.

My maternal grandfather died in 1975 from a heart attack. My mom was 22 years old. He never got to meet my father. He never got to walk my mother down the aisle. He never got to meet his grandchildren. He left too early. I’ve been doing what I can with the American Heart Association to help spread awareness for heart disease. I feel passionate about it because it’s personal to me.

I’ve decided to do something to bring awareness to Heart Month – Go Red for Women is the first thing that jumped to mind. I’m going to wear something RED throughout the whole month of FEBRUARY. I would love for you to join me! If you can’t do it every single day, no worries… just a dash of red will do, but I thought it would be wonderful to bring awareness and support this way. Fashion for a cause.

Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. Learn more, get involved, and take action!

It’s time for us all to take action and get involved. When you wear that red scarf or red dress or red necklace… stop and think for a second as to what that stands for! Really think about it and remember that it’s more than just the color red – it’s much, much more than that and I love that about it. It’s truly a movement and something that will impact others. Go red and make some change. Do something worthy and bring awareness to heart health!!!

I will start tomorrow with my Go Red for Women! I would love to have you do this with me!! It’s not hard to do!! I will be doing this throughout the entire month. Please do what you can! I would love to know I’m not doing this alone!!

Love for you to GO RED with me.

*I will also be hosting a Twitter Party tomorrow from 12-1PM (ET) talking about American Heart Association and the importance for #GoRed

Yes yes yes!! I will be wearing red as much as I can, with the very least being my red dress pin EVERY day. My Mom has heart disease. So this is a really personal cause for me as well. 🙂

Red is really not my color but I try like hell every February to find something that I can pull off. As always, you inspire me!
