Spring Break 2013 Comes To An End

Today is the last day of our spring vacation. We fly home tonight, leaving behind the lush green grass, blue skies and palm trees of south Florida, and returning home to bare trees, not-yet-growing grass, and the continued imminent threat of early-spring snow.

On the other hand, returning home also means getting to see our dogs again (we have missed them SO much), being in close proximity to our families, and… well, to be honest, those are the only two things that are making our return to Rhode Island at all appealing.

But those two things are REALLY BIG things. As much as I love being on vacation , home is where my family and my dogs are; and therefore, home is where my heart is.

Brian and I have had such a fabulous vacation. My parents joined us for the first few days, just as they did last year, which was so much fun. We love being with them. They were down here in Florida with us for St. Patty’s Day, so we went to an Irish pub right on the waterfront and got to sit outside for dinner… in mid-March. Perfection.

After they went back home, Brian and I continued to take full advantage of our break from New England’s late winter/early spring weather by taking daily walks on the beach, reading books by the pool (me), looking at real estate online by the pool (Brian), taking in the gorgeous ocean view from our room, and exploring the Ft. Lauderdale area. Oh, and of course we made our annual trip to Dairy Queen! (We don’t have one anywhere near us in RI, so I look forward to this treat all year.) (And yes, I get excited about the little things.)

But tonight we’ll be back in our home, back in our bed, back to falling asleep to the sounds of our doggies snoring. And I am very much looking forward to that.

Now, if only we could bring this view home with us…

Glad you had a wonderful time! If it makes you feel any better, the snow they were calling for on Thursday will now just be rain 🙂

I’m so glad you had a wonderful, wonderful trip! And I agree – that bittersweet feeling of leaving vacation but returning home. Safe travels!

Honey… I am SO excited to have you just down the street and around the corner! I miss you so very much, but I DO get the weather, green stuff, blue skies and warmth idea. See you at the airport tonight! xoxox! Oh, and the pups will be ecstatic to see Mommy and Daddy!

Ahh, you’re coming back and I’m headed down there soon. So happy you had such an amazing time!!! (PS – Reading books by the pool sounds incredible … unfortunately I don’t think that’s in the cards for me on my Florida trip – LOL)

Looks like you had an absolutely amazing trip! I too have always been sad that we do not have a Dairy Queen. Those commercials on TV growing up made me drool 😉

What a beautiful vacation you had! I love that your parents came for a bit, too. That’s so great. I have loved watching your vacation unfold… a bit jealous, too 🙂
