Square Peg. Round Hole. And my adventure with a Hoover vacuum cleaner.

I’ve never claimed to be technologically or equipment savvy. Ask anyone in my family how I struggle to turn on a television or get ice from the ice-maker. But yesterday, my little adventure with a Hoover just about took the cake AND crumbs. You see, I need to clean my new home. Nooks and crannies type of clean.  The vacuum [...]

Our new home. Our new beginning.

Last September, Barry and I had zero intention to move weren’t quite ready to move, to say the least. We had in mind, sort of, a “retirement” move back to our favorite little Rhode Island town in, well… maybe 5+ years or so. That all changed when I talked Barry into looking at a home that had been for sale [...]

Training for the Disney Princess Half Marathon in 12 days…

Training for the Disney Princess Half Marathon in 12 days may seem a bit unorthodox, but… Running is something that I never saw myself doing.  I didn’t think I had the endurance, strength, dedication or time to to make running a reality in my life. But 3 years ago, at age 56, I tied on a pair of my daughter [...]

Dressing for the Princess Disney Half Marathon…

When my grandkids learned that I would be heading to Disney World next weekend to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon… well, 9 sets of eyes lit up like Disney IlllumiNations themselves. But they weren’t as interested in my training, as in what I’ll be wearing. Now, I don’t have adorable mice friends or a Fairy Godmother to help with [...]

Invited to Run a Disney Princess Half Marathon!

Last week, I received an invitation to run Disney’s Princess Half Marathon on February 26, 2012! I thought, in the words of Cinderella herself… Why, that means I can go, too. Getting a grandson into Social Media… sort of!

Two weeks ago, I “launched” my @GrandparentU Twitter page. This is something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time… combine my love of grandchildren, children, education, reading, literacy, family, fitness and health as a resource for fellow Grandparents and Boomers.  We are, after all, a great force of nature! I first posted a profile pic of me with my [...]

A Grandson with a Heart of Hearts…

Everyone is surrounded with hearts. Hearts float around us in people, in words, in gestures and in things. But not everyone sees them, feels them or acknowledges them.
