Mom’s first marathon – the video!
My mom has always inspired me, but watching her go from a non-runner to a marathoner in about two and a half years was simply incredible. Here’s a video of her amazing accomplishment – completing the 2011 Cox Sports Marathon on May 1 in Providence, RI! GO, MOM!!!!!

When I pressed the key to register for my first marathon, my heart both soared and skipped a beat, simultaneously. I didn’t really know if I could do it… run 26.2 miles, that is. I knew I could run 13.1. I knew I could train for an endurance event. I knew I had the mind [...]
4all for the LONG RUN…
I am a total, unequivocal comfort kind of woman in the clothing department. Don’t get me wrong, though. I love wearing super high-heeled shoes, mules, wedges, sandals, boots… if they’re comfortable. (Yes, there is comfortable super high-heeled footwear out there. I’ll invite you into my closet some day for proof!) I love jeans, but they [...]
Running a First Marathon! GO MOM!
Today my mom is running her first MARATHON! I’m so proud of her… She’s been training hard for months now, and today is the day all of it will come together! I took the boys to meet her at mile 11 this morning, and we got some high-fives and a big kiss from her! GO [...]
The 2011 Boston Marathon (Photos and Video)
Last year I came home from the Boston Marathon with a finisher’s medal. This year? A cowbell. Okay, maybe I am simplifying things just a bit. Last year I also came home with more respect than ever for the toll a marathon can take on both the mind and body. And this year I also [...]

Why is it that every January I get all resolution-y? Oh, yeah. It’s because it’s January and that’s when people get all resolution-y. But anyway… Running a Marathon is something I’ve always had in the back of my head… way, way, way back, but in there just the same. I actually began a journey back [...]
1/2 Marathon: 4 Weeks and Counting…
I’m running my first 1/2 marathon in 4 weeks – or exactly… 30 days. The ladies from Eat. Blog. Run. have inspired me… and one of my very good friends Christine Koh has been my ultimate motivator. I see what these ladies are doing, and it drives me to the treadmill or street – every [...]
Training for a 1/2 Marathon
So my mom’s doing it. My sister’s doing it. Her boyfriend’s doing it. My brother and sister-in-law are doing it. My other brother and sister-in-law are doing it. And now… my husband. They’re all in training for SOMETHING! (And that something is a freaking 1/2 IRONMAN!) I like to say my training for the last [...]
Going the Distance
Journeys are always quests of discovery… whether discovery of history, culture, something fun and different or bigger than ourselves and our world. And then there’s the quest of self-discovery. Self-discovery is that purposeful digging into the very deepest parts of our minds, and often our bodies, and setting on a course to complete a journey-quest. [...]
