I had the opportunity to attend breakfast yesterday with Women at NBCU… Sarah Jessica Parker was there being interviewed with Andy Cohen, and Andrea Mitchell lead a powerful discussion about new and innovative ways to connect with today’s mom and the power of her purse. I sat there mesmerized for 90 minutes from the discussion.

But… Sarah Jessica Parker was there. And she looked FABULOUS! I was hoping, hoping, hoping she would mention her outfit so we could write about where she got it from… but Andy Cohen beat her to it!

But there’s also been some fabulousity off the runway, too.  Starting Wednesday night, StyleWeek Providence has been having an Accessory Showcase with some uber-talented accessory designers!  I have been like a bee to honey since Wednesday night checking out all the tables and items… and looking for some hip and funky earrings.  Usually I’m all about the necklaces and bracelets, but since getting my ears pierced this past November, I haven’t really gone over the top with earrings.  I’ve played it safe over and over and over again.

Well, enough’s enough.  I want style and chicness and hipness with some earrings!

Oh… I remember those days.

I also remember dressing up yoga pants for work after I had William (and I worked at Donna Karan!), hoping that nobody would notice that I was in – well, sweats… but I needed something comfortable on my waist. I need it badly! I couldn’t snap, zip or button my “regular” pants for months. My fold-over yoga pants (literally) saved me.

So I passed these ideas along to my friend…

I love being here for the fashion. I breathe it in. I soak it up. It’s why I moved here at the age of 21 years old dreaming big to do something, something in the fashion world. I never thought it a million years that I would be a mom fashion blogger someday!

My fashion advice today for moms?

Experiment with fashion. I know it’s simple advice, but if there’s one thing I love about seeing the women in NYC is that they’re not afraid of playing with clothes and accessories and colors and fabrics. There’s something really refreshing and cool about it. This very morning I saw a woman wearing a men’s button down shirt with a belt and it looked FABULOUS! So chic, so fashionable and so trendy! I loved it.

I always think of Carrie Bradshaw when I think NYC style… funny because she was never a mother on the show or in the movies, but – still to me, her style was NYC. She dared to dress in different things and it didn’t matter.

To hone that into a mom’s world… because – let’s face it – we’re not Carrie Bradshaw’s and I won’t be wearing a nighty with jeans… but still, as a mom – we can have fun with clothing!

Wear a hat!

Buy those extra-big sunglasses.

Try a chunky belt.

Slip on those heels!

Wear a bright, vibrant scarf.

Purchase those fabulous rings and necklaces and bracelets!

Just dare… dare in a NYC way.

I love NYC… and it’s the energy and the vide and the personality of NYC that fuels a lot of my own fashion sense!

I’m one of those people who will wear jeans every single chance I get. To me… they are the perfect fashion go-to. I love that you can dress jeans up and then dress them right on down!

So when it came to my birthday this past Monday, where I headed to the Unilever headquarters in NJ to speak about blogging… I grabbed my jeans. I wanted to be comfortable and feel relaxed…
