“Test driving” the Verizon Palm Pre Plus for the last 4 weeks has been incredible. It was really cool to be able to try out the Verizon Palm Pre Plus and really sink my teeth into the various applications. It’s funny because I’ve had various smartphones on the past, but I had never (ever) really given myself the opportunity to play around, have some fun and try out some new and exciting features.

For me… it’s all about trying to make my life the easiest it can possibly be. It’s not that simple working from home with 4 boys and not having outside help. It’s all me, just me. And then you toss in running a business from home. Trying to remain and be (stay) organized is an understatement.

I’ve been asked what were my favorite features that really (really) made my life easier over the last 4 weeks. It really came down to a few things for me…

1. Email – I have a mac account, a gmail account and a Mom Generations email account… Each account represents something different to me – one is personal, one is business and one is for my Twitter emails. I love that I can have all my emails coming into one place… I don’t have to literally go from my mac.com mail, to my gmail.com account, back to my Mom Generations mail. It cuts down on the “missing” anything factor and it really allows me to have a good idea of what is “priority” and what isn’t.

4. Easy Web Browsing – Before this test drive I never would have thought of “easy web browsing” as a feature I needed and really saw as a tool to make my life easier – well, it was and it is. I remember when I first started off the test drive I remembered some of the other test driving moms mentioning this… it didn’t “hit” me until I started using my phone everyday and needing it to be fast, easy and user-friendly.

If you’ve been reading my series, you know that I have fallen in love with the Palm Pre Plus… who would have thought a simple phone could truly make your life – well, easier and better. Thank you so much for this amazing 4-week “ride” Emily and Cooper… it’s been wonderful and I highly (highly!) recommend anyone looking into a Palm Pre Plus for their next smartphone.

This past week was all about the APPS for me! It’s funny, I’m not usually an “app” girl… I like my basic apps, but I never really go and experiment and try new and different ones. I thought this week would be a good week to do that! I was in New York City this past week at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week… so essentially, the Palm Pre Plus became my mode of all communication. It is pretty amazing when you can leave your laptop at the hotel and still know you have all the information you need at your fingertips.

So what APPS did I get this past week?

I first had to go with my mighty essentials – TweeFree for Twitter and Facebook.
These are two mediums of social media that I (quite literally) use all day, everyday. It’s how I keep in constant contact with family, friends and people I work with. The best part about both applications was that they were free. That’s always a great added bonus. Both of these apps are extremely (I mean, EXTREMELY) easy to navigate. TweeFree has all normal Twitter functions – including photo posting. Facebook’s app for the Palm Pre Plus is very much the same, it’s very straight-forward and left me with zero head-scratches. (Always a good thing!)

Express Horoscopes.
I just thought this one would be a lot of fun! When I lived in NYC I used to read my horoscope everyday from the NYPost. After moving out of the City… I don’t have the time to even read the paper anymore, never mind check my horoscope. I thought by having this app on my phone, it would be easy to click on and check out real quickly.

Snake and Tic Tac Toe… for my BOYS!

It’s essential to have something for the boys on my phone. We were at the doctor’s office on Friday to get them their flu shots. We waited for over 20 minutes. Imagine 4 boys waiting for 20 minutes… not easy for them to do. My youngest guys were having fun with the toys there, but my older guys… they wanted to play some games! So I took out my phone and they went to town with Tic Tac Toe! They loved it. They went back and forth taking turns and it occupied them for the rest of the wait. Snake is one of my favorite game’s. Such a guilty pleasure… (shh, don’t tell!). I just recently showed my oldest son how to play, too.

Fashion News.
Being a fashion LOVER and writer… I need and want to stay on top of all the latest fashion/style news. I found this amazing app for the Palm Pre Plus and just fell in love with it. It gives me updates all the time. It gives me Runway Feeds. It gives me Style Files. It gives me all the information I could ever want and need on designers. It has become my greatest find! I absolutely adore it! And with being at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this past week – this was my guide throughout the week!

I kept hearing everyone talk about this one, so I knew I needed to check this app out. OMG! Talk about a fresh breath of air. It came in handy when I was trying to get to a meeting in the snow in NYC on Tuesday afternoon and I just couldn’t find my way. It was amazing, it got me right there – turn by turn. And I had to use it again today on my way to a playdate and completely forgot where I was going… this is the exact kind of app that EVERYONE needs!

I’m absolutely LOVING THE PALM PRE!! It’s awesome! I can’t wait to see what next week brings!

The oh-so-amazing Emily and Cooper from The Motherhood asked me to participate for one month in test driving Verizon’s Palm Pre Plus. It’s funny, the box arrived when I was at Blissdom and my husband called me very excited saying, “It’s here!” Smartphones are truly a mother’s best friend – you can absolutely store your whole life in it… and it will keep you on track, organized and in the “know zone.” Being a work-from-home-digital-mom, I need all the help I can get! So I was very intrigued and excited to take on the Palm Pre Plus.

My first reaction?

It’s as small as my bronzer compact! I usually tote around town with a gigantic tote that has diapers and wet wipes and agendas and toys and books and well, you name it! With 4 sons, my handbag is the storage of all things when we’re out. I loved seeing that the Palm Pre Plus can easily fit in the small interior pocket of my handbag. Not needing to fish on the bottom of my bag (for minutes at a time) for my phone when it’s ringing is essential! Not to mention, I’m usually holding one of my son’s, so the smaller, the better. That was my very first reaction. *And… well, here’s the mom fashionista in me, I loved the look of it. Shiny, sleek and black.*

What was the first thing I did?

Besides turning it on, which was fast and easy and sliding out the keyboard (Very cool!) I synced up my emails. I say “emails” because I have 3 different accounts – one personal and two for work. I was able to sync them all together, making it easy for me to view all (I mean, ALL) incoming mail in one place. Email is my life-line, it’s how I stay in touch with everyone – friends, family and business.

What was the next thing?

I checked out the YouTube access. I’m a HUGE vlogger, YouTube is the place I manage all my videos. It’s one of my “Mom Generations hubs.” The fact that I can get to YouTube quick and easy… and not have to go through and upload the site every time I log on, well… it’s amazing. And the Palm Pre Plus served as a fabulous “distractor” last Tuesday night when we took the boys out to dinner. There was a 30 minute line for dinner, and I just kept showing the boys over and over (and over) again different YouTube vidoes.

I took the Palm Pre Plus with me to the Disney Social Media Moms event this past weekend, my friend and fellow test driver, Christy was giving me some great advice on different apps… that’s next week’s goal. I have to get Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn synced up – my other “work life savers.”

I was very impressed with the coverage and clarity from Disney. The calls were clear – and I called home a lot because my youngest son was running a 101 temperature. I can officially say I’m good on the Palm Pre Plus texting, communicating with my husband and mother while I was away and in meetings.

I’m excited for next week’s post and furthering my knowledge of the Palm Pre Plus! APPS, here I come!
