Fashion is Audrey's passion. Working for Donna Karan (starting as her personal assistant right out of college!) for 5 1/2 years gave Audrey a crash course in women's fashion. Audrey also brings her mom fashion expertise to Lifetime Moms as co-editor of Beauty & Style, Blissfully Domestic as the Fashion Editor and was invited as the Mom Fashion Voice at the People's Choice awards with Tim Gunn and Gretta Monahan. Mom Fashion: Glittery Happy Toes

There’s really one thing I “try” to do every other week for myself… get a manicure. I was always the regular manicure girl for $12, but then a month ago I switched over to the Shellac and I love! My sons love seeing my nails all pretty and with color. I know I shocked them a few months ago with black nail polish for Halloween, but it grew on them and on me. I think it’s fun to be bold and different on occasion… especially when it’s needed. :)

So I thought it would be fun to do a little something on my toes to make them smile. I saw this photo on Pinterest that was published by Polished:

This photo made me smile, so I thought for sure it would make my sons. I called Alex over to my laptop this morning to show him what I wanted to do on my toenails and he smiled and said, “They look like happy toes.” I thought that was the perfect way to describe this color for my toes.

So… hopefully soon, I’ll be heading to the nail salon to pamper myself a little bit with some happy toes. In the meantime, I found the color!

Tonight’s the Super Bowl… the last time the Giants played the Patriots in the Super Bowl I was pregnant with Henry. What I loved then about it and what I love now is that it’s all about the red, white and blue – regardless of whom you’re cheering for!

Tonight I’ll be decked in red, white and blue for the Patriots… they’re my team, baby.

My sons and husband are for the Giants… oh, yes.

But it doesn’t matter – we’re all red, white and bluing it tonight!

GO PATS!

Soothing Smell of Donna Karan’s Cashmere Mist

I’m going to be 100% honest with you, today’s been the first day I’ve showered since Tuesday! Yes, TUESDAY. This week flew by in forward motion and before I knew it 4 days went by. This morning I woke up and said to myself, “Oh, Audrey… it’s time.” I know I’m not looking my best for Matty every single day at the hospital, but I can at least smell good for the guy.

One of his nurse’s on Thursday had on the most delicious scent. It was a scent I knew… I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Every time she came into the room, I got a lasting smell and it made me smile. Finally after a few hours I said, “What are you wearing?”

She smiled and took her a second to remember, but said to me, “Cashmere Mist.”

Of course! Working for Donna Karan for 5 years, I know the smell… I just couldn’t place it. I have bottles upon bottles of that here that I haven’t worn in ages!

You know what I did this morning? I sprayed it from head to toe (after I showered).

Sometimes it’s the little things… you know, like adding a spritz of a delicious soothing scent.

Today for me, it’s my Cashmere Mist.

It’s Fashion Friday!

I’m obsessing over silk right now… I love the look of a silk blouse. So elegant. So delicate. So classic. I love that you can wear a silk blouse with jeans, khakis, skirts, trouser pants, etc.

Banana Republic has a gorgeous one right now…

… and I just love, love, love it!

And the best part, right now at Banana Republic they have a sale going on!

Wearing bright colors really do make you feel good

I’ve been practically living at Rhode Island Hospital this week. The only time I’m not here is when I’m heading home to see the boys and to sleep. I’ve been wearing whatever is literally on top of the clean laundry pile. There’s one thing for sure this week, fashion sense don’t mean a thing for me. It’s all about comfort, comfort, comfort. I’ve been living in sweats. It’s funny, the only person on the planet I want to look pretty for is my husband, and believe me… this week he’s giving me a pass. A BIG one. ;)

But I will say this, every time I see a nurse or someone here wearing bright colors, it makes me smile. It changes something within me. It’s cheerful. It’s happy. It literally made me realize how bright colors really do make you feel good.

A yellow sweater.
An orange scarf.
A gorgeous green coat.
A red pair of pants.

They pop!

Look at these examples…

Fell gooders, right?

Heart Month: Dress in RED this month

Today marks the beginning of American Heart Month…

My paternal grandfather passed away of heart disease at the young age of 47 years old. My mother was 21 years old and vowed to always take care of herself through diet and exercise, and she has instilled that in me throughout my whole life. I love to honor Heart Month by wearing RED throughout the month. It’s a small gesture, but one that’s easy and that anyone can do. I do it for awareness and to make it known that we can fight heart disease by taking care of ourselves.

So what will you wear today?

This is what I have ready to wear…

Not to mention, my husband loves me in red. ;)

Fashion Advice: Be Prepared

I’m not feeling to fashiony today…
I’ve been in the hospital with my husband since 6pm Sunday night. I’m in the same clothes. I’ve got the same hair-do (ponytail). I’ve got the same shoes on.
One time in my life I just don’t care what I have on.
But… It got me thinking.
This week I’ll be prepared, I bring a change of clothes, toothbrush and hair brush.
Just for the very sake of feeling a little bit better rather than being in the same clothes.
Love your continued thoughts and prayers for my husband.

H&M Fabulousness: Go Bold with some GREEN!

January 29, 2012 by Audrey

StyleWeek Providence commenced last night and I was excited to finally be able to attend! There’s one thing I love about attending fashion events… anything (I mean, ANYTHING) goes. You don’t have to worry about fitting in or blending because everyone is out to impress and wear something FABULOUS!

I wanted to do 2 things last night:
1. Go with a bright, bold color.
2. Go SHORT (with black tights, of course!)

I had bought an H&M green dress this past October for like $34.99 on a whim in NYC. I saw it hanging on the rack, loved it… and scooped it up. I hung it in my closet and it has literally sat still with tags and all for 4 months… until last night. I grabbed it, popped it on and LOVED the color.

I toned down the shortness of the dress with black tight and booties…

And I felt comfortable and (yes…) beautiful last night in some bold color! It DID help to have my sons see me off and tell me that I looked pretty, so that was nice.

So my fashion advice?

If you see a fabulous dress for an amazingly low price hanging on a rack… scoop it up! You never know when you’ll need it!
