Soccer Boys

My husband’s a football fan. He played in high school. He played in college. He plays in two Fantasy Football Leagues. And he’s a die-hard Steeler fan. I’m talking hard-core.

In May of 2004, when the sonographer told me I was having a BOY – the look on Matt’s face was priceless. He never had a brother, so hearing that he was having a SON… it was a dream come true for him. And one of the first things we ever got William was a Steeler onesie and a plush football.

Fast forward 4 years… and 3 more sons.

I signed them up for a local soccer league after one of my girlfriend’s told me she signed her own son up. I thought it would be a great activity for the boys to do. Meet other kids. Run around. Laugh and play.

Yesterday afternoon, Matt joked with me that he couldn’t believe he was going to a soccer game… “Isn’t there a 4 and under football league around here?”

Well… seems our William has taken a liking to the game of soccer (sorry, honey!):

Our Alexander… I’m not so sure about… he didn’t like the idea of someone else scoring!

Our husbands must be soul brothers, we have mirroring lives. Die-hard Steelers fan (to the point of obsession), no brothers. He loves that we have 4 boys, and he loves to hear them talking at night long after “lights out” because he never had a brother. We are doing the soccer thing too with three of the four. The trick is to get your husband to Coach, then you will never have to drive to a practice. 😉 My husband is my safety net!

    Awwww! Soooooooooo cute!

What a sweet story about Matt too!

My hubby is a farmer and he went out and got our baby John Deere baby clothes (a onesie, t-shirt, diaper cover, bib, hat, etc)…and we don’t even know if we’re having a boy or a girl! LOL! We decided not to find out the sex, but Hubby said even if the baby’s a girl she can wear John Deere stuff! LOL!
