New Year, New You.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Coco Chanel said that… and it’s one of my favorite fashion quotes.

The one thing I do love about fashion is that it doesn’t come down to anything in particular. You aren’t only fashionable if you read Vogue. You aren’t only fashionable if you look good in the latest trends and styles. Fashion is everywhere and within everyone.

With each New Year, we get the chance to start fresh and new!

Most of our New Year’s Lists look like this:

– Get organized
– Get healthy
– Start working out
– Cook at home more
– Save money

Why is it that we usually leave off – Look GOOD? And I don’t mean that in a vain way… looking good and feeling good can be as simple as showering in the morning (sad to say that showering has become a luxury – double luxury, washing my hair!) or getting completely made-up from head-to-toe. Looking good and feeling good can be different and is different for everyone.

Make this year about YOU. It’s a New Year, it’s a New You.

As Coco Chanel said, “fashion is everywhere.” It doesn’t just exist in a dress. Let 2010 open you up more to fashion… I’m even going to take my own advice! Find fashion and beauty everywhere, within you and around you.

Be daring this year. In my post yesterday, I had mentioned that TURQUOISE is the ‘it” color of 2010, wear it! Embrace it! Find a fabulous coat and wear it with passion.

I remember last year I vowed I would never buy ballet flats. I’m short enough… why would I “show that off” when I could sport some dazzling heels? Well… I did it. I bought some and I LOVE them. I wear them all the time.

I even (gasp) bought Mammoth Crocs. I vowed I would never buy Crocs… and everyone kept saying how comfortable they were… they may not be stylish, but they are comfortable. I wear them all day at home. I love them!

The point is here… my advice is to do something different this year for fashion. Try skinny jeans! Try cowboy boots! Try a vest! Try bangle bracelets. Buy something luxurious for yourself… cashmere or something “designer.”

Embrace 2010 like a cozy sweater wrap (something else you should try!).

Happy New Year… I’m off to find Fashion in a snowy, cold afternoon!
