Hebrew National Better-than-a-Picnic Picnic in Boston

Last Memorial Day weekend I had the honor of hosting a Hebrew National Picnic with a Purpose in East Greenwich, RI. It was an incredible day because many of my friends and family were able to attend… and we all got to together for a fun-filled afternoon and for a wonderful purpose – Big Sisters of Rhode Island. Everyone who attended the picnic came with bags of clothing, household goods and toys to donate to the special organization.

I am so excited to invite YOU ALL Monday, May 31st, 2010 from 11:30AM-3:30PM to this year’s Hebrew National Better-than-a-Picnic Picnic in Boston! This year I am beyond excited because I get to host the event with 3 of my favorite bloggers – Christine from Boston Mamas, Christy from Quirky Fusion and Jodi from Mom’s Favorite Stuff. We’re hosting it at the beautiful Artesani Park on 1234 Soldiers Field Road, Boston. The site includes free parking, a playground for the kids, and a very cool spray park. It’s going to be such a wonderful, wonderful afternoon for families! We’re not asking for people to formally RSVP… but we’d love for you to head over to the Boston Picnic Facebook page so we can determine how many hot dogs we’re going to need (plan to eat more than 1, they’re delicious!). We’re going to have hot dogs, fruit and drinks for everyone!

But it’s the “better-than” part of the Picnic that is the most incredible part!

We will be collecting donations for Women’s Lunch Place, a Boston-based organization that serves homeless women and children. This is an amazing organization looking to truly help women and their children, it’s a beautiful thing. Their top priority items include: toiletry items (travel sizes), office supplies (paper, pens, envelopes), and gently used books/magazines (for their library).

We will also be collecting donations for Room to Grow, a Boston-based organization that serves babies born into poverty (throughout their first three years of development). Their top priority items include: board and soft books, toddler clothing (especially boys sizes 18 months – 3T) and safety equipment.

Some activities for the DAY! Since our picnic is on Memorial Day, we are going to be hosting a card making station where everyone can make cards for military service members (cards will be sent to Operation Gratitude). We also will host a craft project (to benefit Women’s Lunch Place) that attendees are invited to help with.
