So, the feminist in me knows I should want to learn to do all the things I consider “man stuff,” but the truth is, most times I think some things are best left to the men. I mean, they are so good at them… it would be a shame to strip from them the honor of doing these things.
(I’ve been told a little ego-stroking is all it takes sometimes. How am I doing?)
These “things” I’m talking about are oil changing. Chopping down trees. Mowing the lawn. Man stuff. Grrr.
(And yes, I realize I am just inviting the women-are-meant-to-cook-and-clean argument right in. Honestly? I’d rather do those things than be covered in car grease. Just sayin’.)
Anyway, Brian doesn’t buy any of the man stuff/woman stuff I’m selling, and in his never-ending effort to expand my horizons, he tried to teach me how to operate a backpack leaf blower. Here’s how it went:

Jane; I’m the same – I just don’t like doing some of those “man” type things either. But then, I also don’t like cooking that much – baking, yes! I think the man/woman stuff still has it’s place if that is what people are comfortable with and prefer to do. It’s not the fact that changing oil or hooking up a ceiling fan are tasks known for being handled by men. And, they aren’t all that difficult. It’s just that I don’t like these things – that’s all it comes down to. I know women that do like to do the stereotypical male type things and then I know men that don’t like it much or, don’t even know how. Anyway, this was a really cute video and riding that mower looked like fun!

Seriously, I am obsessed with leaf blowing. I am out there all day long catching them before they hit the ground. Ok Im exaggerating a bit here — but I NEED ONE OF THOSE MACHINES
