My Clean Start Challenge is already in its 6th week! I am committed to trying my best to increase literacy in my community through creating a Reading Garden and Library at the preschool my sons Alex and Ben attend. I wanted to make it personal, yet also make sure that the Reading Garden and Library have long-lasting effects on the community.

This week I had the wonderful opportunity to interview my friend and local Rhode Island celeb – Allison Alexander. Allison anchors the news for ABC 6 and is also the mom of a beautiful little one year old daughter. I wanted to ask Allison what she’s been doing with her own daughter – even at such a young age – in terms of trying to promote a love of reading. As a mom to a very young daughter, it was great to hear that she’s starting the routine and tradition of reading every single day.

Reaching out into the community is a big component of my challenge to increase literacy, so it was wonderful to speak with Allison about what I’m doing with my Lifetime Clean Start Challenge and to see what she thought about the idea of a Reading Garden!
