Natural Makeup Removers

Removing makeup is something you should do every single night before you go to bed. It’s Beauty 101.

A reader asked me a few weeks ago to recommend some natural makeup removers. Truthfully, when it comes to my face makeup – I’m a soap and water kinda girl. But… when it comes to removing makeup, there are some natural things around your house that work beautifully! They’re good for your skin. They may be in your house. And they’re affordable!

1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

*This is good for your eye makeup. You won’t want to use this for your face makeup because of the oil, but when you’re in a bind for eye makeup remover, this stuff works beautifully. I actually remember my Nana when I was a little girl using this for her eye makeup remover.

2. Cucumber

Take a cucumber (peel it first) and mash it into a paste-like material using a little water to keep it formed. Use the paste as soap to wipe the makeup away. The seeds are great for exfoliation. I love the cucumber idea because women have been placing cucumbers over their eyes to get rid of bags. It’s a logical and practical item to use for removing makeup!

3. Almond Milk

This one’s an easy one. All you have to do is apply the almond milk to a cotton ball and remove the makeup right from your face! I love the smell of the Almond Milk on my face!

4. Yogurt

As odd as this sounds (because I’m a HUGE yogurt lover!), yogurt is a great natural makeup remover. If you use it as a soap on a washcloth, it will remove your makeup and also leave your skin very moisturized.

I really enjoy washing my face with Jojoba Oil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jojoba_oil) it is not actually an oil but a plant based wax. Just rub it into your dry face to loosen dirt and makeup and then rinse with water.

I also use it as a bath oil. Either directly in the bath or applied to the skin after the bath but before I dry off. When not using it on my face I ofter add a few essential oils to add a scent.

it also works great for shaving your legs.

other great natural beauty products to try are:
    – coconut oil
    – shea butter
    – Pure Prickly Pear Juice (great toner, but hard to find fresh pure juice unelss you can get it yourself in AZ)
