April Showers bring work powers

Join our APRIL SHOWERS bring WORD POWERS and watch your kids’ vocabulary sprout and flourish.

Today’s word:  hallux

– Hint: Kids LOVE body-part words.

– OK.  Another hint, using a previous Word Power Word:  Your beaux most likely have halluxes.

– Still nothing?  Yet another hint using a previous Word Power Word:  A hallux may be crinigerous.  Ewww.

One last hint and yes, using a previous Word Power Word: A dobbin does not have a hallux.

Answer:  hallux is a noun meaning big toe and is pronounced hal-lux. The hallux is also known as The Great Toe.

The other 4 human toes have no true designated names, but are generally referred to in numerical order and/or as the Index Toe, Middle Toe, 4th Toe and Pinky Toe.

I hope the word hallux has brought both a little learning and a little good humor to your kids’ day.

Hope to see you tomorrow!
