Barry conquered C25K – Week 7 with the determination of a champion.
This past Monday, he ran an incredible 2.75 consecutive miles. But Tuesday – Sunday of this week brought family and work-related things that made running impossible.
Until today.
And today is the day Barry had planned for some hill training.
I must admit that I tried to dissuade him from the hills. I’ve run these hills in our hilly little town while training for my first 5K, my half-marathon, my 70.3 Ironman and my marathon.
I know these hills and I have lots of nicknames for them that I won’t mention here. AND we have a record-shattering heat wave going on here in Rhode Island that left a 68-year old record in the dust.
Aw, heck. Maybe I just didn’t want to run them thar hills today.
But Barry would not be dissuaded, so I laced up and followed him out on his journey and his dream…
Only 8 short weeks ago, Barry embarked on a 9-week C25K journey to train for a 5K.
He couldn’t run a flat 60-consecutive seconds without a struggle.
Today, Barry ran 2.5 consecutive hilly miles.

I jump for joy and shout from the hill-tops.
And he’s made me a runner again, too.
Thanks, Honey. You are my hero!
Hills are HARD–and our Midwest hills are pretty weak. Barry is amazing.
I hate hills, but they kick my butt every time I go around my neighborhood. ;p Go, Barry and Sharon!
