OCTOBER OBSOLETE: Reviving words that kids will love… like AXILLA

365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS!

DAY 289 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids:

Obsolete words are no longer in general use and may have fallen out of favor for nearly a century or more, but who says obsolete and rarely used words can’t be revived by kids who love words?

Today’s word is AXILLA, a noun meaning armpit.

Why use an ordinary word like armpit when you can use an extraordinary word like axilla.

The word axilla is documented as far back as the early 17th century, so it’s been around longer than than every armpit alive today!

Kids will love the word axilla because kids love body parts… and it’s a fun to know and use secret words.

Use axilla with your kids and grandkids today.  And use your axillae, too.  (Oh, axillae is the plural form of axilla.)

Join me each day here for OCTOBER OBSOLETE – 365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS! – fun, easy and completely do-able!
