Puppies are way smarter than Grandmas

Puppies ARE way smarter than Grandmas.

I don’t have a big yard.

In fact, it’s a small sunken courtyard kind of yard… enclosed with a fence and (albeit winter-looking) shrubs and lovely pear trees on 2 sides, a high 250-year old stone wall on another side and my house on the 4th side.

So…

If I wandered outside with my 6-year old grandson, 2 granddoggies who know the ropes and 1 new granddoggie puppy to give said puppy a little exercise, wouldn’t you think I’d have a handle on things on my own turf?

Not so…

Because I had forgotten about that little escape path next to the staircase leading to the deck that leads to our back door.  The little teeny who-would-ever-know route between the 2 big black pots to puppy freedom.

Well, I think Jethro had a pup’s-eye-view on it all along and was waiting for the perfect opportunity.

Yes?

I’ve been running lately – training for a 5K and Half Marathon – so this Grandma foiled the attempted puppy escape to our nearby very busy Main Street rather quickly and became the instant hero of my grandson.

Ah.  All’s well that ends well.

Of course, a little remorse does help…

But how could anyone not love this little guy… escape attempt and all.

(I’ve just gotta remember to be this-much-smarter and plug that hole on my own turf!)

Phew – escape foiled…gald to hear it since you are so close to Main St. Good job grandma. Not too many grandmas could say they showed the pup who was boss by chasing him down…You rock!
