Organizing and cleaning the boys playroom is my P&G everyday resolution today.

In all honesty, this is one of those resolutions that will make me feel accomplished and organized, yet it’s something that I don’t like to do — which is why I’m making it a resolution!

We created a space in our basement that is solely for “the boys.” We had our basement re-done last year and we specifically wanted to make the boys a playroom. You know, a space that’s all theirs. A space where I can stack their toys and figures and games and everything! As they’ve gotten older, their toys have gotten more and more complex, with more and more pieces. Having everything in our living room was just getting to be too much. I was CONSTANTLY picking up and organizing because I didn’t want our living space to be chaotic. I thought bringing it all downstairs would make it a lot easier for us (OK, well… me).

It’s has and it hasn’t.

It’s wonderful for the boys to have their playroom.

But it isn’t so wonderful seeing the playroom constantly unorganized and messy. I don’t like going downstairs and stepping over things like it’s an obstacle course to turn off the TV and/or the computer.

So today, I’m making it my resolution to organize and make it a space that’s nice for the boys — on all levels. I want it neat. I want it organized. I want to clean. And I want it (most importantly) to smell nice! When we had a friend over a few weeks ago, he asked, “Did someone leave their stinky shoes downstairs?” I was MORTIFIED! That’s not what I want kids saying about the boys’ playroom. I’m nipping this in the bud now and I’m not looking backwards!

Thanks to a little hard work and Febreze®, this playroom is going to be a place where I’m comfortable and happy letting the boys’ have playdates. It will never be stinky or as chaotic down there again!

It’s amazing how a commitment to something like “organizing the playroom” can make such a huge difference in my life. I feel good knowing the boys are down there playing and not only that, I’ve devised a system now where they HAVE to pick up and put away anything that they play with. This will make my life (and my husband’s!) a lot easier going forward. Organization is a good thing. 🙂
