Wedding Countdown: “And a sixpence in her shoe”…

5 Days – Wedding Countdown ’til Jane & Brian’s Wedding…

And a sixpence in her shoe…

One of the most precious tokens I’ve kept from my own Wedding Day to my love, my life, Barry, is the sixpence I wore in my shoe.  Well, it’s actually six cents, but it means more than a million sixpences!  A sixpence is an old English custom to bring the Bride and her Groom wishes for good fortune and prosperity.

I searched for a nickle and a penny that were minted before both Barry and I were born, and I taped them to the inside of my shoe on our Wedding Day.

Jane will be wearing this gift, this blessing, this token in her shoe…

… shared with the great love of a Mom for her beautiful Daughter!

When I saw the buffalo nickel, I immediately thought of my dad. He had a buffalo nickel collection. When I was a little girl, I popped some of them out of the blue folder he had them in and spent most of them at the candy store down the street. How special that you are passing this on to Jane on her special day….
