Daily Diary: Birthday Hibachi Dinner for William!
When William went off to school today he was bummed that on his birthday he’d have to go straight from school to CCD and then to swim team. He wanted to (and I quote) “enjoy his birthday, not do things all day.”
Believe me, I got it… I was 8 years old once, too! And even own, I still like to make my birthday a FUN day, not a full-work day.
My “rule” for today was that he had to go to CCD, but that I’d let him miss swim team.
When he came out of CCD I surprised him with the news of no swim team and then asked him, “Where do you want to go to dinner tonight!? You can choose any place!”
All William said was, “Hibachi!”
So… OFF TO HIBACHI to our fave spot in East Greenwich, RI KON!
I just wanted my son to have a fun-filled night! He’s one of the most important people in the world to me… he’s just my love. To see him smile and laugh throughout the night, ahhh… it felt good!
And then onto the CUPCAKES and the WISHES!!
My wish for William is that ALL his wishes come true this YEAR!
I love your blog and I love this post! It made me think of my 10 year old son. First he loves Hibachi dinners and he would totally expect to celebrate his birthday the entire day! It also drove me into guilt because we have yet to celebrate his bday that was at the end of August! I need to plan something asap!
