This morning when I left for my news segment for The Rhode Show, I noticed my car sounded a little “off.” Let’s put it this way, I definitely noticed something was wrong with the left side tires, but I TRULY thought it was just leaves or wetness.
(Note to self, always stop and check.)
I drove all the way to the news station (which is about 12 miles away from my house), and then as I was driving back on the highway, I really knew something was wrong. It was a dragging and a digging sound coming from my back left tire. I actually pulled off on the highway to take a look, but then I thought… here I am, in the emergency lane, and I’m going to get killed if I try to get out of the car on this busy highway!
So I got back on and took the next exit (which was 1/2 mile away). I pulled off immediately after taking the exit and saw this…
… yeah, not great.
I called Matt immediately to have him come help me, but we had a repair man at our house and he was still going to be another 45 minutes.
So I did what any girl would do in this situation, I called my DAD. As luck would have it, he was literally 2 miles away. As if I was 16 years old again and not a wife/mom of 4, he wasn’t happy about seeing what my tire looked like. I totally tried to defend myself with the, “But I didn’t know…” and then thought to myself, I’m not fooling this guy. I knew something was wrong, but didn’t stop anyway!
And then, my poor father got down on his knees and fixed it…
… and fixed it he did!
Ahhh…. nothing like a father to the rescue!
He fixed it in 6 minutes!
Thanks DAD! Such a fun little “Monday morning” excursion! 😉
(Although, the good thing from it… I treated my father for breakfast after he fixed it and we got to spend some time together!)
Audrey – that’s a RIOT. . .I know the exact sound you mean. . .lol. . .I also know what happens when you ignore it.
Thanks to my dad – I also know how to change a tire – if I can manage the lug nuts off and on tight.
So cute!
