As freelance writer who works from home, with a husband who own a landscaping business, I don’t have a ton of opportunities to get “out on the town” glammed up. Sure, we go to our share of events and have fun date nights, but we really don’t have an abundance of ritzy functions or galas to attend. So when Brian and I have the chance to dress up I get really excited and want to look and feel my best.

My cousin recently married the wonderful woman he’s dated for the last few years, and their wedding took place at a swanky restaurant in downtown Providence. It was the perfect chance for me and Brian to step out looking stylish. The wedding took place on a Friday night, so Brian had to work until the last possible minute, but I was able to take my time getting ready. My Mom and I went to get manicures and pedicures, and then she helped me choose a dress from my closet.

By the time Brian got home from work, I had showered, dried and straightened my hair, gotten dressed and put my makeup on. Since Brian typically sees me in my day-to-day makeup and more casual clothes, I love his face when he sees me in a chic dress with my makeup super glammed up. I had used some of the techniques on Mary Kay’s Tips & Trends page to help perfect my look, and I was really happy with how my makeup turned out. Brian told me I looked beautiful, which was, of course, what I wanted to hear… but I really felt beautiful, too!

We got to the wedding and met up with my parents. It was a beautiful wedding in a beautiful setting with a lot of fun touches, like a photo booth for guests!

Looking at the pictures, I was happy to see that my Mary Kay makeup had stayed on perfectly all night long.

We stayed well into the night until it was time to head back home to our dogs and our comfy PJs. 🙂
