Preparing for Hurricane Sandy

Preparing for Hurricane Sandy!

I’m not happy about this.

A hurricane?

Really?

Last year with Hurricane Irene we got hit, not as bad as we could have… but we lost our power for 11 days. 11 LONG days. It was horrible.

The first 3 days were “fun,” and adventure of sorts with the boys. By Day 4, I wanted to cry… it was horrible. We lost all of our food. We had PILES of dirty laundry. We had PILES of dishes in the sink that needed to be washed. It wasn’t fun… at all.

This time around? We’re prepared and preparing for Hurricane Sandy as best as possible.

Right after Irene, we lost our power again in October for a day during a snowstorm. It was at that moment where Matt said, “I’m not doing this again. It’s just not safe for us.” And he went out and bought a generator…

Good news is, we’ll have power for our fridge, a light or two and anything else we need to charge up. I feel good knowing we have this generator because my whole family lives in Rhode Island (including my 87 year old Grandma), and if anyone needed to stay with us, they’ll know we have some power surges available. I just feel armed for Hurricane Sandy with this generator.

We’re also stocking up on a few additional things:

Water
Batteries
Milk
Bread
Eggs
Flashlights

Other than that, I’m trying to get laundry and dishes all done and put away for tomorrow!

I just wish they’d go ahead and cancel school for tomorrow, I don’t want the boys stuck there if the wind and rain really start to pick up!

Please stay safe to all who are going to be in the path of Hurricane Sandy.
