A little question presented by my 88-year old Mom to my almost 61-year old self…
I must preface this post with a little introduction to my Mom, Rita. Rita is 88-years old. She’s very tiny, very pretty, very modest (not in the prudish sense of the word, though), very fashionable, very demure.
I am Rita’s only daughter of 3 children.
As far back as I can remember, my Mom made sure my tights were pulled up, my slip wasn’t showing, my bra straps were hidden, my baby-doll pajamas had panties to match. My Mom was never critical of my clothing choices, albeit raised eyebrows during the 60’s cut-off jean shorts up-to-there, ultra-minis up even further, backless halters, no-bra stage; and maybe yesterday when this little conversation took place…
My Mom was at our home for the Patriots vs. Bills football game. My Mom is a big Boston sports fan. Toward the end of the game, I was sitting on one of our love seats, taking a few moments to stretch before a 4-mile run.
Mom: Sharon, I hope you don’t sit like that when you have company.
Me: Um. What?
Mom: The way you’re sitting…
Me: (furrowed brow silence, a moment of thought, then laughter) Mom, I’m almost 61!
Mom: (laughter) OK. (a moment of thought) But I hope you have a panty liner under those shorts.
Ah, being a daughter.
Even at almost 61.
Gotta love Moms!
(And yes, there is a panty liner in those shorts.)
You just made me laugh out loud. Love this, love you, love Rita!
Lovely post. Lovely picture!
Love it!!Love this!
LOVE IT! I think it’s true though, a mom is a mom no matter how old thier “baby” is!
This is great!!! I can see me being like that someday with my girls too!
You are blessed .. but you know that. 🙂
Simply awesome!
Thank God we’re married or I’m afraid that Rita would have us sleeping in separate bedrooms!
I can remember Grandma telling me to sit with my legs crossed like a lady at a young age. 🙂 Gotta love her!
I just laughed out loud reading that one! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face this Monday afternoon 🙂
🙂 Rita is so cute! <3 her!!
