Corresponding LIVE from Skin Cancer Foundation Gala tomorrow with Olay #BestBeautiful

I’ve always been someone to love the sun. I grew up swimming, so my summers were spent on the pool deck and at the beach in Rhode Island. My mother would lather me with sunblock when I was a child because she was worried about me getting burnt under the harsh sun. I remember looking at photos of myself with a little white nose! My mother was always concerned with me getting too much sun in the summer.

When I became a teenager, my first job was as a lifeguard. We’re talking hours and hours in the sun. Since I worked at a very busy neighbor pool, I was constantly on the side of the pool, which meant – under the sun. I’m not going to lie to you I loved getting bronzed and tan under the sun.

And as I’ve gotten older, and now a 30-something (ahem 36) married mother of 5, the sun takes on a whole different meaning to me. I still love a good bronzed look, but I don’t do it under the sun anymore. Not to mention, I’ve been worried about my skin getting too much sun and the damage I could do to it and me.

You can have fun outside under the sun, it’s just all about protecting your skin under the sun.

Olay – a brand I LOVE – is helping women understand that sun protection does not have to be complicated it just has to be consistent. Olay introduced Total Effects SPF 15 and SPF 30 to provide women with skincare products to help them look their best beautiful every day.

Total Effects by Olay

Women shouldn’t have to choose between beauty and UV protection. Olay sun offerings feature SolaSheer Technology, which combines broad spectrum SPF protection with proven moisturizing agents to keep skin protected and allow women to put their best face forward.

You truly are getting the best of both beauty worlds with the technology in Total Effects SPF 15 and SPF 30. I make sure I share with all of my friends and family to stock their beauty cabinets with Total Effects. If you’re going to wear makeup and beautify yourself that way, you might as well take care of your skin first! That’s the surface and foundation of it all.

Many women have not been thoroughly educated on the importance of applying SPF every day, let alone how easy it is to work into their existing beauty regimen. To solve for this, Olay launched a campaign to educate women about the importance of wearing a facial moisturizer with a minimum SPF 15 every day. To get the word out about making SPF a staple, Olay partnered with The Skin Cancer Foundation to stress the importance of daily SPF usage and to continue educating consumers about skin care and skin cancer prevention.

I was moved by their powerful, emotional and beautiful campaign with Hillary Fogelson, who was the face of their campaign and a 4-time melanoma survivor. Hillary shared her journey and her story and her advice for all women out there to make sure you protect your skin.

Pretty incredible, huh?

I love that Hillary was truly so brave to share her story and to share her honest advice. What an amazing woman to have as the face of Olay’s campaign.

To commemorate this inspirational and educational campaign, and Olay’s advancements in skin cancer preventative measures, Olay is being recognized by The Skin Cancer Foundation with the distinction of the Skin Sense Award.

I am honored to be partnering with Olay to cover the 2014 Skin Cancer Foundation Gala where Olay is being honored for the campaign. I will be tweeting and using my Facebook and Instagram feeds throughout the night, so please follow me during the #SCFgala on Tuesday, I will be using the hashtag #BestBeautiful. I’m beyond honored to help Olay celebrate their efforts in skin cancer prevention
