Happy holidays! I am honored to work with SheKnows and The Salvation Army this season with their #RedKettleReason campaign.

We’ve all seen the iconic red kettles outside storefronts during the holidays. I always stop and donate money every time I see one. When I was a child, my father would take the time to volunteer and “man” one of the Salvation Army red kettles. It was always something important to him.

This season, the #RedKettleReason campaign encourages people to share their stories of giving and why they donate to the Red Kettles during the holiday season. It’s something that is also near and dear to my heart because throughout my life, I’ve always been passionate about giving, especially during the holidays. For me, that’s the best part. Now as a mom of 5, it’s even more important to me to teach my children the same thing. I want them to look at me like I looked at my parents growing up, too.

My parents taught me and my siblings from a very early age the importance of giving back. It’s really important for me and my husband to instill in our five children that giving is more important than getting. As a family, we find opportunities to give back throughout the year, but it’s especially important for me to make sure that my children know how good it can make you feel when you help others. It’s important to show them the true gift of giving back.

Head over to SheKnows and see why it’s important to me and what #RedKettleReason people give back for… it’s an amazing, important and special time of year to do this.
