Best Possible Start for my Daughter #FPBabySweeps

I have partnered with them and I’m co-hosting a Twitter Party tonight chatting about their sweeps called

Best Possible Start

Fisher Price Twitter Party

They asked me to share how I have given my kids the best possible start and I thought it would be fun to share about our newest addition, Victoria.

When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter Victoria in October of 2012, the first thing I thought of was that it was going to be a true family experience this “time around.” I had had my 4 sons all within 3 1/2 years, so there was truly 4 babies on the house at the same time for awhile. With this new baby coming… he/she would have 4 older brothers to help. From the VERY beginning, we made it a family experience, not just a new baby for mom and dad… a new baby for the family. This was the way I felt I would give this baby the best possible start.

I wanted this baby-to-be to know the love of mom and dad, but also of 4 doting older brothers.

I wanted this baby to feel bonded with these older brothers because a piece of me was worried about having this new little baby 5 years after our youngest. I didn’t want this new baby to feel left out because the older boys all had each other.

Having a true family bonding experience was the goal for me.

When we found out that our baby-to-be was a girl… well, the boys were JUST AS EXCITED as we were. We didn’t tell anyone else in our family until the boys knew.

That video still makes me cry, especially seeing my oldest son William. All he wanted was a baby sister and he was finally going to get one. It melted my heart.

I knew at this very moment back in February of 2013 that our baby girl-to-be was going to have the best possible start.

As my belly grew and it became closer and closer to have Victoria, the boys grew more and more excited. Each day it was “Is she coming today?”… “When will she be here?”… “Can I hold her first?” It’s pretty incredible how bonding can begin without a child even physically being here. Me and my husband made it our mission to bring them to as many doctor appointments as we could and involved them in everything when it came to her. Even her baby shower, we had them host it! I wanted to make them feel as part of this pregnancy and baby as possible.

And then… before you know it.

She was here.

And the start was just beginning.

These 4 boys… the bonding was instantaneous.

I knew that we were off to a good start when I saw them gushing over her like she was the queen at the hospital. They were as proud as can be.

It’s been 2o months since Victoria was born and I can tell you without a hint of hesitation that her brothers love her more than anything. We decided from Day 1, we do everything together.  We will never hold any back or stay home while others go off to activities – we do things as a family.

And we have. And I feel in my heart and in my bones that it’s given Victoria the best possible start because she knows already unconditional love and family and brothers and bonding. She doesn’t like to be alone, she LOVES to be with them.

It’s just amazing to me.

Just as simple as being a family and creating a bond that can’t be broken… it’s a beautiful thing.

And if you fast forward to present day… now that she’s talking and walking and dancing and joking… the bonding has gotten stronger!

This is how me and my husband have tried to Victoria the best possible start.

Through the help of our sons… I feel that we have.

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Beautiful. You have given all of your kids such wonderful first starts, but I love how you made Victoria’s birth a full fledged family affair.
