Daily Diary: When Parenting Goes Right

Last year at this time I had a boy in my kitchen crying because he didn’t make the All-Stars Baseball team with his older brother William. As much as it made me crumble inside to see my child crying and so upset… it was important for Alex to know that with time and practice and dedication and determination, he could try to make it next year. I’m a firm believer in going after your goals and last year a fire was lit. The kid didn’t give up. He started practicing every morning. He’s started watching baseball videos on YouTube. He wants to be the 1st kid at practice and at games. And (the most important) he’s the biggest cheerleader for everyone on his team.

Matt got the email this morning that Alex MADE THE 2015 ALL-STARS TEAM!

This year… I was the one with tears in my eyes. GO ALEX (and WILLIAM!)!

Wow well done Alex, it’s so hard to see them upset but sometimes it’s experiences like these that motivates them and teaches lessons in life that last
