A Mom Moment that I Needed

Traveling for my job is something that I love and something that I hate.

I love it because I love my job and I get to go to places that I just love, love, love and do things that fill up my passion tank.

I hate it because I leave my family. And – as every parent knows – that’s not always easy to do, especially when you have little kids.

Weekends are usually family time for us. For the last few weeks we’ve had no weekend plans, which has been amazing. I knew as soon as October hit, work would be reving up and traveling would be a little crazy for awhile. This past weekend I headed off to NYC to cover the PAN Movie premiere with Vera Sweeney. The movie was amazing and covering the red carpet for the event was a true pinch me type moment… and as soon as everything was finished, I hopped in my car and jetted off home! My husband called me along the way telling me that Henry was REALLY missing me. I was due home around 5PM, so Henry… at 9AM (I was still in NYC!), started to make lunch for me and lay it out on the table… milk, yogurt stick, peanut butter and jelly and crackers. My husband said it was really cute and he was so proud, but Henry didn’t realize I would be another 8+ hours!

I felt so bad. This little guy loves to take care of me.

My husband must have broke the news to Henry that mommy didn’t want to get sick from eating food out all day. So…. then my husband called to tell me that he wanted me to call the house when I was about 30 minutes away because Henry had a “surprise” for me (he noted that it was NOT food related).

As soon as I drove into the driveway I saw a little blonde head pop out the door.

“MOM!?”

“Yes, Henry… I’m home!”

“I have something for you, close your eyes when you walk in.”

With a little help from Daddy, Henry was able to sit me down on the couch and surprise me with a craft project.

Motherhood

He worked on this little project for an hour. He made MOM out of index cards and glued and taped them to a white piece of paper.

Honestly, it made me cry.

He was so proud and I was so in love with it.

After a long day of missing my babies after seeing a movie I knew they would LOVE… being home had never felt so good, especially with my new MOM sign.
