It’s tough getting away when you have kids, especially 5… lots of moving pieces!! It’s something we always talk about doing consistently, but just never are able to make it happen with our busy schedules. I hate to use being “busy” as an excuse, but it’s true. We’re always on the go and always have a full week of activities when we try to sit down and book even a date night, we have trouble finding the time! It’s something that really bums me out because I LOVE spending one on one time with my husband.

Well… Monday night Matt surprised me with my Christmas gift… a romantic getaway in Boston, all planning (including babysitting – thx mom and dad!) done by him. Honestly – it was the best gift he’s ever given me (besides our children!). He gave me the gift of time together, which with our lifestyle is a priceless gift. ❤

He booked us at the Park Plaza in Boston… the Garden Suite! The room was GIGANTIC, with a patio! We could’ve brought the kids and it would’ve been fine, too! It was amazing! Dinner reservations made at Strip by Strega, again – all by him. It was fun being away and not knowing what was in store! It was fun and I felt like I was 20 something again with him!

And then yesterday morning we explored Boston!

I only started to really miss the kids when we came across the iconic ducklings!

It was a WONDERFUL night away with my love.

A tradition has started, I told him he just needs to do this every year!
