Why Back to School Time is the Start of my (personal) New Year

It’s OFFICIALLY back to school time! Kids everywhere are walking the halls and rocking the books! I was lucky this year. All 4 of my kids were super excited for school to start. Actually – even Victoria’s excited about her preschool back to school time, too! As you know, we moved this summer, so this year is truly a new-new year for everyone. So far with one week into school, everyone’s doing great (thank goodness!).

Back To School Time is a New Beginning for Me

For me as a work-from-home mom, back to school time is my personal NEW YEAR! It’s the beginning of a new chapter, a new beginning, and a new routine! Ever since I became a mom, I’ve always made sure that the summertime was 100% about the kids. As the kids have gotten older, I’ve become more and more aware that spending as much time with them during the summer is the most crucial and important ever. So the summer is all about the kids and I’ve made my work-work alter to that, too.

But now with back to school time, here… I’m READY for a regular routine with the kids and for my work! I feel like tossing glitter into the air and screaming, “I’m READY FOR YOU SEPTEMBER!”

Enjoying some time together before back to school time is here.

I never thought that September would become my new January, but it has.

How?

I really start to look at my life and make conscious decisions to make it better for me and my family.

I have the ability to look at what needs to get done and be done and really make changes and alterations to make sure it happens.

With the kids back in school I have the ability to work uninterrupted throughout the day which is key and crucial for my business. During the summer it’s a bunch of stop-and-go, along with a lot of late nights. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found that working late at night just doesn’t cut it anymore. I NEED downtime to just be with my husband and truly myself!

With the kids back in school, I can take care of myself better. I can find the time to workout, which is something that I have really let fall by the wayside this summer. I’m not happy about not working out this summer because working out for me is more for the mental than it is the physical. I need the sweat, blood, and tears of a really good cardio workout! It just makes me feel better from head-to-toe.

With the kids back in school, I feel like I can create order for our house. With the summer in full motion, it’s swim bags and beach bags and sand and towels and tees and shorts everywhere! Every morning was a crazy fast-forward motion of trying to get everyone ready for the pool for the day. Now with school here, I feel like I can finally get rid of the sand AND (most important for me) create key organization in the house. I don’t want random swim towels here, there and everywhere. I crave order!

With the kids back in school I can just get everything set. I feel like I can get structure. I feel like it’s truly just a new beginning.

Even though January is the “official” start of a New Year… for families, it’s all about September. It truly is the mark of a new everything and it’s something that I embrace and love.

My word for this year for me and my family is going to be READY.

We’re READY for this.
We’re READY for this new home.
We’re READY for this new school year.
We’re READY for order.
We’re READY for new things to come our way.
We’re READY for this, which is something we’ve all been waiting for!

And so – to all the moms and dads out there with kids back to school – HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

May this year for your kids be the best one yet!
