When it comes to basic hairstyles, a ponytail is the classic. It’s the go-to, need to have it, pop it up and go hairstyle. I want to show how to do a ponytail on yourself or someone else that’s perfect. This is a perfect ponytail tutorial.
You can make a high ponytail or a low ponytail, whatever you feel the most comfortable with. This ponytail tutorial can be done with long and medium hair. If you have short hair, it will be tough and I will try to create a how to make a ponytail with short hair tutorial at another time.

I love this easy hairstyle because you can also wear this just about anywhere. You can dress it up. You can dress it down. You can really have some fun with this hairstyle. I also love that various ponytail hairstyles cross over and work for any age.
5 Things To Remember When Doing a Ponytail:
- Use a really good hairbrush.
- Use a good spray in conditioner.
- Find great elastics to use on your hair.
- Find some hair product that you can use to smooth.
- Find a hairspray for the finished product.
How to Get Your Child to Stay Still While Doing Hairstyles:
This is probably the most common question I get from people when I post hairstyles with Victoria. I get it, your child needs to stay still. I have a few hairstyle hacks.
- Have an iPad? Set up some games for them to play.
- Can you do it in front of the TV? Easy attention grabber.
- Do you have a coloring station? Set it up.
- Are they into any good books? Have them read away.
- Toy time. If you know they will stay still, let them play with toys while you do your hair.
It’s important to get your child still (the best you can) while you’re doing hairstyles. It’s the best way to ensure an outcome that you’ll be happy with.
