I knew the day would come…

As parents, we all know the day will come… today was one of those days.

William was playing XBOX with my husband this morning.  My husband was able to get to a higher level than William on Lego Star Wars.  William started to get visibly upset.  So my husband said he was going to stop playing if William didn’t snap out of it.

Obviously still upset… William turned to my husband and said, “ass.”

Silence.

You know when you know your child KNOWS they have said the wrong thing… well, that was William in a split second.

To back peddle… William quickly tried to explain himself by stating, “But Daddy, I didn’t say ‘jack’!”

You know when you have to actually bite your lip so NOT to laugh?  That was me.

My husband and I laughed later today about it in thinking that he actually thought the “jack” part was the bad word, not the “ass.”

And… by the way, where did he learn THAT word!?

Ahh… kids.  They’re a mystery.

Too funny!! When I was about six, I shared a room with my two older sisters (they’re 11 years older). It was always a big deal if I could get them to go to bed at the same time as me, and since they’re much older, it didn’t happen a lot. One night, I convinced them to go to bed at the same time, and as we all said good night, I decided to say, “Good night, assholes,” having no idea what the word meant. Looking back, I don’t know how my sisters managed to keep from falling out of the beds with laughter!

LOL! Oh my goodness, Audrey! Did this post ever make me laugh!! Reminds me of the story I posted last year about the time my youngest brother learned the “F-word”…at the tender age of TWO!!! No, he never learned it from my middle brother or me! He picked it up from a movie we had rented!

Kids are amazing! They’re like sponges and just soak in everything! My grandma always says to be careful of little ears!

Funny! When we’re in the car, and I feel a little road rage coming on. I call people Jack or Jackie. My kids say…Mom who was that? Did you know them? Who’s Jackieeeeee? Why is everyone’s name Jack or Jackie?
