Sometimes you've just got to…

TRY THINGS ON!

That’s my advice today.

Yesterday I went with my girlfriend to Target to return 4 dresses, 2 skirts and 1 top that didn’t fit her well. We stood in line for 20 minutes waiting to get to the counter and make the transaction. Fortunately the “dads” were watching the kids, so we were — oddly enough, kidless. It was almost too quiet!

But as we were in line my friend said to me (completely frustrated), “I should have just tried the stuff on!”

And I get it. Sometimes we’re in such a rush… and the thought of going into the dressing room to try on ANYTHING seems way too daunting. My friend said that she came in, saw items she liked, knew her size — and bought them. Not even impulse shopping… she genuinely loved the clothes, needed them (she’s lost 20 pounds after having her 3rd baby and looks fantastic!) and wanted to buy them. Upon getting home — the clothes had a different story for her, they just didn’t look good… or so she says! 🙂

But my advice… sometimes you’ve just got to TRY THINGS ON. It’s not always fun. It’s time consuming and can be a pain in the butt, especially if you’re in a rush. But here we were, 4 days later, waiting in a 20 minute line to return 7 things…

UGH!!!

Dresses. Skirts. Tight tops. If you can do it, TRY THEM ON!

I love shopping, but usually am not in the mood to try things on. But you’re right, even when you have the right size, it might not be the right fit. So I generally do force myself – or else I’m just very, very careful about what I’m buying without trying it on first. (Of course, having to return an item is a good excuse to do some more shopping.) 🙂
