Each Muse is assigned a particular mythological-inspiring function. Clio is the Muse of History, Thalia the Muse of Comedy, Melpomene the Muse of Tragedy, Euterpe the Muse of Music, Terpsichore the Muse of Dancing, Polyhymnia the Muse of Sacred Poetry, Calliope the Muse of Epic Poetry, Urania the Muse of Astronomy and Erato the Muse of Lyric Poetry.
