7 years ago today, I was at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC waiting, waiting and waiting to have my first baby. The 25th of Sept, at least the morning of it 7 years ago, is still a blur. William was stuck in the birth canal and wouldn’t come out! I pushed and pushed and pushed some more for hours! Finally at (I remember the exact time) 1:53PM, the doctor said to me… “One more big push, if nothing happens… we’re prepping you for an emergency c-section.” I think that was all I needed to hear. Out William came at 1:55PM, all 7 pounds, 6 ounces of him… my beautiful, beautiful son.

My family had all driven to NYC for the birth of William (who came perfectly planned on his due date and on a Saturday so people could travel!) and my life as “mom” officially started. It’s crazy to look back at the photos on the day William was born, little did I know I would have 3 more sons so quickly! I always tell William, we had more babies because we loved having him so much, and wanted that over and over and over again!

And then life began to happen…

And now, today… my little “big” man is 7 years old.

It’s crazy to me. I actually sat on the train home from NYC last night with tears streaming down my cheeks. My little guy, is 7 years old. Over the last 7 years lots of stuff has happened in his life… new brothers, new home, new school, new friends, new cousins. There’s been a lot packed into the last 7 years… but mostly, I just look at this beautiful, handsome BOY William has grown into and thank God every single day for choosing me as his mom!

And now… he’s ready to PARTY!

And yet, the coolest thing about this birthday… he can read this post!
