OCTOBER OBSOLETE: Reviving words that kids will love… like BRABBLE

365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS!

DAY 290 of 365 Days of Literacy for Kids:

Obsolete words are no longer in general use and may have fallen out of favor for nearly a century or more, but who says obsolete and rarely used words can’t be revived by kids who love words?

Today’s word is BRABBLE, a verb meaning to quarrel, squabble or brawl obstinately and/or noisily over things of little importance.

Why use an ordinary word like quarrel when you can revive an expressive word like BRABBLE.  Try this one:  QUIT YOUR BRABBLING!

The word brabble is documented as far back as the early 16th century, so it’s quite obvious that quarreling or brabbling has been around at least as long.

Kids will love the word brabble because brabbling is something they do… and most kids do it quite well and often!

Use brabble with your kids and grandkids today.  Maybe you can get them to use brabble rather than to actually brabble!

Join me each day here for OCTOBER OBSOLETE – 365 DAYS OF LITERACY FOR KIDS! – fun, easy and completely do-able!
