I had the pleasure beyond pleasure of being part of a demo panel during GE Appliance’s French Door Refrigerator Launch in NYC yesterday as the mom expert.

When they first approached me about the launch of their new refrigerators – GE Cafe model and the GE Profile model, I immediately wanted to know everything about them.

What were the new features?
How were they going to make my life easier?
What was going to be so different about these new fridges that would make me run out and grab one?

Well… let’s just say, GE must have had “mom” in mind. I was honored to be there to talk about how I feel the new features will make a mom’s life easier, more convenient and will help them save money.

These are the new features:

Key Features:
• Hands-free Autofill: Featured on counter-depth and 29 cubic foot GE Profile model, the dispenser with its pull-out tray is large enough to place a container, press the button and walk away while it fills up automatically. The technology uses sound waves from ultrasonic sensors and proximity detectors similar to those used to fill up fuel tanks in locomotives. The model also includes a PreciseFill™ feature that dispenses filtered water in accurate measurements for easy food and drink preparation.

• Hot Water Dispenser: The 29 cubic foot GE Café model is the first refrigerator in the industry to feature a hot water dispenser, which can heat up to 12 ounces of water in two minutes – ideal for oatmeal, a cup of tea, or a bottle of baby formula. Four pre-programmed settings and a customizable setting simplify hot food and drink preparation.

• Advanced Filtration System: All of the new GE French door refrigerators feature the most advanced water filtration system in the industry, which has been tested and verified by an independent third party to remove 98 percent of five trace pharmaceuticals from drinking water and ice.*

• Adjustable Temperature-Controlled Drawer: With five settings and temperatures ranging from 32 to 40 degrees, the drawer is designed to keep specific foods and drinks at the proper storage temperature. Colored LED lights in the drawer can be set to remind you of the temperature setting you have chosen.

• TwinChill™: The refrigerators feature TwinChill™ evaporators, which separate airflow and climates in the fresh food and freezer sections to help maintain temperature and humidity levels to keep foods fresh.

I had the opportunity to speak with 3 other experts (and simply amazing people) who all spoke about different aspects of the features and how they can work in someone’s life.

Jake Dell is the owner of Katz’s Deli. He spoke about the importance of making sure your food is stored properly.

Julie Reiner is the owner of Flatiron Lounge, Pegu Club, Brooklyn’s Clover Club and Lani Kai. She’s a famous mixologist and she spoke about the importance of the advanced filtration system and how the different features with the precise water make someone’s life easier.

Julie Morgenstern is a professional organizer and time management expert. Julie spoke about how the different features were all designed to help someone manage their lives easier. She had a PHENOMENAL explaining the importance of having an organized fridge because it literally makes you spend less money and makes you feel good. The fridge (as she said) is the hub of the kitchen!

I spoke about the hot water dispenser and the advanced filtration system. These 2 features speak to me and my life. I love the hot water dispenser because I literally have to use hot water every single day for oatmeal, mac & cheese, soup, tea and hot cocoa. I love that it gives me an EXACT temp, there’s no guessing. When I was bottle feeding my boys, this would have been a lifesaver for me. The other feature I was obsessed with (literally, obsessed) was the advanced filtration system. This system removes 98% of the 5 trace pharmaceuticals found in drinking water and ice. To ensure my children are drinking safe, clean water… there’s no proper price to put on that.

I LOVED meeting the GE team, they were all so knowledgeable and kind and passionate, it was just incredible!
